The ANUFAFC has made another strong showing at the 2017 AFL Canberra Mulrooney Medal Presentation Night that was held on Monday. ANUAFC won the Community Club of the Year award for the third year running, a testament to the commitment and hard work from all those involved with the club.

“We are extremely proud to be Community Club of the Year for the third year in a row, thank you to AFL Canberra for this recognition,” said ANUAFC president Caitlin Roy. “This award wouldn’t be possible without our amazing board, coaches, and all of the volunteers that helped throughout the year.”

“A big thanks also goes to ANU Sport, and our sponsors, Dixon Advisory, Hellenic Club in the City, MO’R Mortgage Options, Chamberlains Law Firm, Kingston Physiotherapy, Davis Family Builders, and Specsavers Woden. We are a community organisation, run by volunteers, and everything we do is to make the club professional, inclusive and accessible for our players, and we couldn’t do that without the ongoing support of our sponsors.”

In the individual awards, Griffo Hayden “Dobbo” Dobson came runner up in the Fourth Grade Best and Fairest count, while Tom “Short-dawg” Short came fourth in the Third Grade count. Our women had a strong showing as well, with 16 players receiving votes in the Broadbean Catering Player of the Year award. Those players, and all ANUAFC players who received Best and Fairest votes throughout the season, are listed below.

Last but not certainly not least, club president Caitlin Roy was nominated for the Volunteer of the Year award, an accolade that everyone who knows Caitlin will agree is thoroughly deserved.
